Briefly...
scRUBYt! is a simple to learn and use, yet powerful web scraping toolkit written in Ruby. The idea behind making scRUBYt! was to show a few simple concepts of Web extraction as a practical extension of this tutorial.

I think what you have done is fantastic and will save me a lot of work when I get around to my project. But that may be several months away, so I won’t be sending you feedback any time soon. Perhaps other people are in a similar situation: they appreciate your work but they can’t try it immediately (hopefully, they’ll get to it sooner tham me :-).
Anyway, I realize you’d like feedback as soon as possible, but you’ll probably get it just by being a little bit patient.

If everything works out as intended, in several months when scRUBYt! will be actual for you, probably you will face a totally different program. There are tons of heaps of goodies in store!
As for my impatience, you are probably right (or at least I hope so :-). People are already communicating, I got some bug reports and feature requests and other questions as well.

Hi I just heard of it and wanted to play with it (idea: creating rss feeds for feedless sites), but currently I’m behind a corporate proxy, and although ‘open-uri’ works without any setting ($http_proxy is set in my .profile), scrubyt always dies with e.g.:

I am currently developing a realty site and in my quest to construct a listing aggregator I stumbled upon Ruby and scRubyt. I am new at this but I am very eager to learn about content scraping and being able to distribute the aggregated data. Keep up the good work and I will be following along!
